The key points

You register for the TOEIC only via ETS Global, and approved centres exist all over France. You can take it as an independent candidate (without going through a school or employer), either in a centre or remotely proctored, and often fund it with the CPF (in France). This page helps you find and choose, not memorise an address list that keeps changing.

How to find a TOEIC test centre

The process is simple: go to the official ETS Global site, enter your city, and you get the available sessions and centres near you. In large cities, several centres run sessions every month. To choose, compare three criteria:

  • the session date (anticipating your deadline);
  • the format offered (computer or paper, depending on the centre);
  • the distance and accessibility of the centre.

Since ETS Global is the only official organiser, be wary of third-party directories: their address lists go stale fast. Always start from the official search for the exact address and remaining seats.

Taking the TOEIC as an independent candidate

Good news: you do not need to be tied to a school or a company to take the TOEIC. As an independent candidate, you register alone, in the same approved centres, and sit the same test. The only nuance concerns funding: to use the French CPF, a prior course is usually required (sitting the test alone is not always fundable as is). More on that below.

Which cities can you take the TOEIC in?

Approved centres cover the whole country. Here are the main metropolitan areas where sessions are plentiful:

  • Paris
  • Lyon
  • Marseille
  • Toulouse
  • Lille
  • Bordeaux
  • Nantes
  • Strasbourg
  • Rennes
  • Montpellier

This list is not exhaustive: many mid-size cities also have centres. For the exact address and dates, always use the city search on the official ETS Global site rather than a fixed list.

In a centre or remotely: how to choose

Before booking, ask yourself whether you prefer the comfort of a dedicated room or the flexibility of remote testing. Here are the main differences.

Criterion In a centre Remote
Flexibility Sessions per centre Wider slots, no travel
Equipment Provided on site Computer, webcam, smartphone required
Conditions Dedicated room, invigilator Quiet room at home, remote proctoring
Access Open to independent candidates Often through a provider

If flexibility matters most, see our guide on taking the TOEIC remotely and its conditions.

Funding your TOEIC with the CPF

In France, the TOEIC is, in many cases, fundable via the CPF. Funding usually covers a course that includes preparation and the sitting, rather than the exam alone. Check eligibility directly on your CPF account and confirm the scope with the training provider. For the price range and the full registration steps, see our guide on the TOEIC price and registration steps.

When to register (timing and planning)

Online registration is possible up to about 10 days before the session, subject to availability. But do not cut it close: time your sitting around the deadline that matters (application, hire, school deadline), with a buffer to absorb result timelines and, if needed, a second attempt. To hit the right score on the first try, follow our TOEIC preparation guide and practise with our free exercises.

Once your session is booked, find out how test day unfolds so you arrive calm.
